We Remember...and Learn.

My son, age 9, is beginning a semester long research project at his school. It's rather involed - and he was instructed to pick something he really would like to learn about. His choice is to study the events of September 11, 2001.

Although it scares me for him to know the details - it is so very important. And I feel he is old enough and mature enough to handle the truth. I think it is amazing that he will be spending his time this semester investigating not only the people who so viciously attacked our country - but the many, many heroes who helped in so many ways - even giving their lives to protect others from harm.

A true animal lover, my son was telling me last night he'd like to include a small tribute to the search and rescue dogs who helped to look for any survivors.

That day in 2001 was so much like today...sunny and warm - just gorgeous. My little boy was two years old that day. My daughter was not yet one. Sometimes it scares me to think of the world they may encounter in the future. But with a little luck, faith, and hope - this tragedy will inspire all of our kids to be kinder and gentler to others...to be everyday heroes.

I think that is so cool that your son wants to learn about the events of 9-11. It is a very important day in our nations history.

What a day to remember and study. I hope your son does well and instead of felling hatred for the men who did this to us, feels sorry for their VERY lost souls. The world NEEDS Jesus!
