A Peek Into Spring....

I always feel sad at the conclusion of the holiday season. I so enjoy the special time with family and friends - uninterrupted by the strife and rush of daily life. So, just to cheer myself, I like to look ahead - to spring - to light - to warmth - to life.

Happy New Year - and many blessings in 2009.

A Photo with Santa

Last week, my daughter begged and begged for me to take her to see Santa at the mall. I think she knows that the mall Santa is not the real thing - although this man was very kind and convincing. He took so much time with each child - thus the 45 minute wait that we patiently endured to see him. I love this little moment between the two of them. I asked my daughter what she was saying to him then. She said she was asking for a tunnel from our house to her best friend's house. Santa said that might be a tough one - but he'd see what he could do. As it turns out, Santa couldn't deliver that gift - so I guess it is a good thing that my daughter's best pal lives right next door. :)

Holiday Ornaments 2008

Each year, my kids select a new ornament for our tree. Someday they can take all of these with them when they leave home - providing I let them leave home - which is definitely up for debate! :)

This year, my son truly wanted the Star Wars Battleship ornament with lights and sound. Considering the hefty price tag - I told him to please go with choice #2! That's how he ended up with Indiana Jones!

My daughter selected a bright pink cheer ornament to celebrate her first year in all-star cheer.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas

Hail the heav'n-born Prince of Peace
Hail the Son of Righteousness
Light and life to all He brings
Ris'n with healing in His wings
Mild He lays His glory by
Born that man no more may die
Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! The herald angels sing"Glory to the newborn King!"

December

Angels in the Snow

When December comes...Then we'll take the kids to Mama's
They can make snow angels in the yard....Like a Christmas card
We'll decorate the tree...Put an angel high above us
Like we always do at Christmas

On and on it goes...Every year new memories to share
And for all we know...We will all of us be there
When the autumn leaves have gone to gold....the swallows know December's calling
I'll be flying home a thousand times...In all my sweetest dreams
